Banned gutkha worth Rs 1.25 lakh seized from grocery store in Gudalur, Nilgiris - owner arrested

Police led by Gudalur DSP Mahesh Kumar raided Muruganantham's shop and godown. It was found that the grocery store contained banned gutkha items.



The Nilgiris: Muruganantham hails from Sri Madurai near Gudalur in the Nilgiris district. He runs a grocery shop in the same area. Gudalur police have received a tip-off that the grocery store is hoarding and selling banned gutkha items.

Based on this, the police led by Gudalur DSP Mahesh Kumar, who reached the spot, raided Muruganantham's shop and godown. At that time, it was found that the grocery store contained banned gutkha items.



Following this, the police arrested the grocery shop owner Muruganantham and produced him before the Gudalur court and sent him to jail. The value of the seized gutkha is estimated to be Rs 1.25 lakh.
