Police arrested one of the two persons from Patiala in Punjab who have duped a biofertilizer manufacturer in Irugur area. The duo duped the fertilizer manufacturer to the tune of Rs.82 lakh.
Coimbatore: Vikram Sudhakar (45) is a native of Athappagoundanpudur near Irugur in Coimbatore district. He runs a company that manufactures organic manure using crab shells. He is selling the fertilizer produced by the company across the country.
Vikram Sudhakar got introduced to Karamveer Shergil (25) and Pankaj Mittal (25), both from Patiala, in Punjab by a common friend Thirunavukkarasu, who resides in Punjab.
The duo contacted Sudhakar on the pretext of running a company called Brother Enterprises and both parties entered into an agreement on the sale and purchase of biofertilizers.
In 2020, Vikram Sudhakar sent organic crab manure worth Rs 82 lakh to Patiala. However, the duo did not pay the bill for a prolonged period.
In 2021, Sudhakar lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore City Crime Branch police after he failed to get the money despite repeated requests.
Assistant Commissioner Parthiban, Inspector RenukaDevi, and Sub-Inspector Nagaraj, who took up the investigation rushed to Punjab for questioning the duo. There, with the help of Patiala police, they arrested Pankaj Mittal, who had purchased fertilizers and cheated the Irugur manufacturer.
The arrested person was brought to Coimbatore, produced in court and remanded in custody.
The police also confirmed that the crab manure worth Rs 82 lakh they had purchased was stored in a godown in Patiala, Punjab.
The police are on the lookout for Karam Veer Sergil, who is absconding.
