In the wake of the rising spread of Covid cases, a mock drill was held for doctors and nurses at the Coimbatore Government Hospital in the presence of the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran in preparation to tackle the pandemic.
Coimbatore: Even as global reports pour in about the increase of Covid cases in various countries across the world, including China, Covid restrictions and precautionary measures are being gradually stepped up in India.
In particular, to ensure that there are adequate facilities to treat Covid-19 patients in Government Hospitals, the Central and State Health Departments have advised all Government Hospitals to be on standby.

Accordingly, Covid tests will be conducted at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. A mock drill was held for doctors and nurses on Tuesday at the Government Hospital to show how Covid-infected patients should be handled and treated.

The medical staff were trained on how to conduct clinical trials and treatments with modern tools.

Doctors and nurses involved in the mock drill were dressed in PPE suits and Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran who witnessed the drill instructed the doctors to keep medical equipment, medicines and beds ready in the event of another wave of the Covid pandemic.

According to the district administration, 6,400 beds are ready in Coimbatore district, out of which 3,537 beds with oxygen facility are ready. It is reported that with regard to vaccination against Covid, 100 percent in the city have received the first dose of the vaccine in Coimbatore and 96 percent have received the second dose of the vaccine, with 14 percent also receiving the booster dose.
