The State Bank of India (SBI) branch, which operates in the SIDCO area in Coimbatore, was closed in the presence of the Bank's manager, as usual, the day before yesterday following all security measures.
When the Assistant manager returned to the bank yesterday morning, as usual, he found the window bars in the bank tampered with.
Following this, he immediately informed the Podanur police.
Podanur Crime Branch police, who rushed to the spot, lifted fingerprints from the bank and video recorded on the window. They also scrutinized CCTV camera footage installed at the bank.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the miscreants, who had come to commit burglary at the bank had tried to cut open the iron bars in the window, but as the alarm went off they escaped from the scene.
The police are on the lookout for the miscreants who entered the bank for burglary.
