Nilgiris Collector inaugurates Skill Development Centre for tribal students at Mavanalla

The Collector and SP inaugurated the tribal skill development centre established at the cost of Rs 10 lakh for tribal students. The Police department has constructed the facility for the welfare of tribal students and youth in Mavanalla village.


The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris District Police is carrying out various development works in the tribal villages of the district. Various awareness programmes are being carried out, especially with the objective of educating all the tribal students.

Accordingly, the construction of a tribal skill development centre at Mavanalla village near Ooty at a cost of around Rs 10 lakh for the benefit of tribal students was completed recently.



The centre was inaugurated by Nilgiris District Collector Amrith and Superintendent of Police Ashish Rawat.

The centre has been established with the avowed aim of encouraging participation in youth sports competitions without them taking to bad habits including drugs, and also to reduce school dropouts.



The centre is stocked with books for competitive exams for students to pursue competitive exams.



The collector urged the youth to use the tools kept at the centre for physical exercise in the morning and evening for the upkeep of good health.

At the end of the programme, everyone, including school children and youth took the drug eradication oath.
