Wild elephants damage borewell pipes near Chinna Thadagam

Wild elephants entering farmlands owned by one Mani near Chinna Thadagam have damaged bore well pipes.


Coimbatore: Over 50 wild elephants live in the Anaikatti -Mangarai forest areas in the Western Ghats region of Coimbatore.

Wild elephants have been frequently entering residential areas and farmlands at the foothills to raid crops.

Meanwhile, farmers have complained that wild elephants roaming in the Thadagam area have been entering the gardens and agricultural lands for the past two months and are damaging the crops.

Wild elephants entered the farm owned by Mani in the Chinna Thadagam area of Coimbatore last night and damaged the bore well pipes. The incident has created a lot of fear among farmers.

The farmers have demanded that the forest department should take urgent steps to prevent wild elephant incursion.
