In The Nilgiris District, the Department of Labour Welfare and Skill Development distributed protective equipments and welfare assistance to 1,338 beneficiaries at a cost of Rs.27.67 lakhs.
The Nilgiris: On behalf of the Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department at the Tamil Nadu Government Guest House, Ooty in the Nilgiris District, Tourism Minister Ramachandran distributed protective equipment worth Rs.12 lakh to 739 beneficiaries and 599 beneficiaries at a cost of Rs.15.64 lakh to the construction workers registered with the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board.
He also distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs.27.67 lakhs to the beneficiaries.

Speaking later, Tourism Minister Ramachandran said,
There are 18 Labour Welfare Boards functioning under the Control of Labour Department. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been working with the noble aim of ensuring that the government's welfare schemes reach all the people.
A subsidy of Rs.1.00 lakh will be provided to the women auto workers to buy their own autos, Rs.1,000 will be given as educational assistance to children studying in classes 6 to 9, marriage assistance, maternity benefit, natural death assistance in case of natural death of a registered worker.
He said that the Chief Minister is providing assistance in case of accidental disability due to an accident, spectacle allowance, pension to unorganised workers who have completed 60 years of age and disablement allowance in case of accidental disability in the event of an accident.

District Collector Amrit, Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board Chairman Ponkumar, Labour Joint Commissioner (Erode) Sasikala, Udhagai Panchayat Union President Mayan (A) Mathan, Labour Assistant Commissioner (Social Security Scheme) Lenin and other government officials were present on the occasion.
