TN government to stop screening of early morning shows and ‘milk anointing’ of cut outs for Pongal releases 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu'

As per the order no permission will be given to hold special shows from 4 am to 5 am in theatres, where Vijay starrer "Varisu" and Ajith starrer “Thunivu” will be screened during Pongal.



Coimbatore: In what may be a disheartening development for the diehard fans of Super star actors Vijay and Ajith, the Tamil Nadu Government has stepped in and directed the movie theatres all over Tamil Nadu to stop screening of special shows from January 13-16 of Vijay starrer “Varisu” and Ajith starrer “Thunivu”

As per the order no permission will be given to hold special shows from 4 am to 5 am in theatres, where Vijay starrer Varisu and Ajith starrer “Thunivu” will be screened during Pongal.





Senthamarai, Joint Commissioner (LA) Cinema and Irrigation who has written a letter in this regard addressed to the all District collectors and Commissioner of police (GCC) has directed not to give permission for milk anointing (Paal abhishekam) by keeping high banner cutouts at the entrance of the theatre premises by fans.

The letter also noted that violations relating to collection of ticket charges and parking fee collection in excess of the rates fixed by the Government should be monitored and stopped by officials.

The orders will apply to all theatres in Tamil Nadu state including cinemas under Chennai Metropolitan Corporation, Municipalities, Unions and Panchayats where the two star vehicles hit the screen on the Pongal eve.

Moreover the order has directed to print the name, designation, cell number, email address of the higher officer in charge to whom the public can file a complaint.

The order has also directed all the District Collectors and Commissioner of Police (GCC) to offer their specific remarks on the above matter to the Commissionerate before January 10.
