Medical student ends life by suicide as he couldn’t get Visa to go back to Phillipines

Hariharan, a youth of Thoppampatti died by suicide as he could not get Visa to go back to Philippines to pursue his medical studies.


Coimbatore: Hariharan, a youth of Thoppampatti died by suicide as he could not get Visa to go back to Philippines to pursue his medical studies.

According to Police, Karkuvel Ayyanan and Hema are a couple from Ganapathy Garden in Thoppampatti in Coimbatore district. Their son Hariharan, 21, was pursuing third-year MD in the Philippines.

Hariharan, who had reportedly applied for a visa to go back to the Philippines after arriving in India due to covid-19 did not get his Visa application cleared.

Unable to bear the disappointment, Hariharan ended his life by suicide.



Police recovered Hariharan's body was recovered and sent to Coimbatore government hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered in connection with the suicide and an investigation is underway.
