Over 35 bulls tamed in ‘Manjuvirattu’ organised near Dharapuram, cash prizes given away

Over 40 bulls and 35 bull tamers participated in the second annual “Manjuvirattu” competition held at Ramapattinam near Dharapuram on the occasion of Pongal festival. Prizes were given away to the winning bulls and tamers.



Tirupur: On the occasion of Pongal festival, the traditional bull taming sport of Manjuvirattu competition was organised at Ramapattinam village under Kolathupalayam town panchayat near Dharapuram.

More than 40 Jallikattu bulls from various villages including Ramapattinam, Kalipalayam, Mettu Valasu, Seerampalayam, Thalakarai, Kattoor, Attukal Pudur, Karaiyur, participated in the Manjuvirattu competition held on behalf of RPM Jallikattu Peravai, and the general public of the village.



While about 20 minutes were allotted to tame each bull to the tamers, the permission to nine people to tame the bulls was allotted.



Apart from five bulls, other 35 was tamed by the youngsters on the occasion and prizes in cash and kid were given to winning tamers and bulls. RPM Jallikattu Peravai President Shekar presided over the function while vice-president Karthik Kannan presided over the Manjuvirattu competition.
