The incident of a bear walking on the road leading to the famous Holy Aarogya Madha Temple at Kotagiri in the Nilgiris district has left the public fear stricken.
The Nilgiris: Even as there has been an increase in the movement of sloth bears in and around Kotagiri in the Nilgiris district in the recent past, people are awestruck to see a sloth bear walking in the middle of the road.
Bears coming out of the forest area in search of food and water have become a regular feature and they are often spotted roaming around in residential areas and roads from time to time.
A sloth bear walking nonchalantly on the road from Kotagiri bus stand to Aarogya Madha temple the previous night set the social media abuzz. The bear walked some distance on the road and then went into a nearby bush and disappeared.

Motorists, who saw the movement of the bear on the road, parked their vehicles safely at a distance and they filmed the bear on their cell phones.
