Labourer killed as car rams into two-wheeler near Kundadam in Tirupur

Tirupur: A coconut cutter was killed when a car in which he was travelling collided head-on with a two-wheeler trying to cross the road near Kundadam in Tirupur district.



Tirupur: Shanmugam (54) is a native of Idayapatti near Kundadam. He was in the business of cutting coconuts.

He tried to cross the road on his two-wheeler near mettukadai bus stop near Kundadam on the Dharapuram-Coimbatore road on Thursday.

At that time, the car, which was on its way to Coimbatore, unexpectedly hit Shanmugam's two-wheeler.

One leg of Shanmugam was amputated in the accident.

He was dragged with the car for some distance and fell down.

Shanmugam, who was seriously injured, was rescued by the locals and rushed to palladam government hospital for treatment.

The doctor who examined him there said that Shanmugam was already dead. The Kundadam police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
