Coimbatore: Police are on the lookout for a gang that hacked two men to death'with a sickle, including a private college student at Saravanampatti in Coimbatore at midnight.

Saravanakumar and his family members were asleep at home last night when around 11 pm, a gang of 20 people barged into their house. They asked for Saravanakumar, and thereafter an argument broke out between them which then turned into a full-fledged heated dispute.

Enraged, the mob smashed things in the house with weapons and looted valuables. The gang reportedly also used abusive language and hacked college student Saravanakumar to death with a sickle. He is reported to have suffered cuts on his head and forehead.

Shocked at seeing Saravanakumar being hacked with the sickle, his uncle Balasubramaniam rushed to his rescue but was also hacked. He suffered cuts at several places in his body. The gang reportedly threatened the family and fled from the spot.

Shocked by the tragic turn of events, the rest of the family members rushed the two seriously injured men and admitted them to a nearby private hospital for treatment but to no avail. It is said that the murder may have taken place due to prior enmity.

Saravanampatti police have registered a case and are investigating the audacious murder of the two men by a gang. They have launched a man-hunt for the culprits.
