Passengers travelling in a TNSTC Omni bus had a miraculous escape when a truck collided head on with it near Palladam.
Tirupur: A goods-carrying truck collided head-on with a TNSTC deluxe bus on the Coimbatore-Trichy national highway near Pongalur, in which the driver of the truck was injured.
The bus passengers had a miraculous escape as none of them were injured in the accident.
A truck carrying goods was on its way to Coimbatore on the Coimbatore-Trichy national highway near Pongalur in Tirupur district, when it collided with a TNSTC bus proceeding from Coimbatore to Karur with 40 passengers on board.
The bus was proceeding near Pongalur when the goods- carrying truck coming from the opposite direction lost control and collided head-on with the bus.
The left side of the bus was completely damaged in the impact.
The footboard of the bus was jammed and could not be opened due to the impact.
Avinashipalayam police reached the spot and evacuated the passengers trapped in the bus through the emergency door.
The injured truck driver was sent to a private hospital by ambulance for treatment and the traffic congestion and the traffic was disrupted in the section due to the accident.
