Impoverished members of the public who have applied for house pattas in TN Slum Clearance Board petitioned District Collector, tying black cloth on their mouths.
Coimbatore: Impoverished members of the public came to the District collector's office wearing black cloth and submitted a petition demanding that house site pattas be issued without any further delay.
More than 50 impoverished people from areas like Thadagam Road, Velandipalayam, Venkatapuram, Shivaji Colony and Periyanaickenpalayam live in rented houses and poromboke lands without a house.

They have applied for houses or pattas at the TN slum clearance board office in Selvapuram but in vain.
Similarly, a few years ago, when over 60 people had applied to the district collector seeking free house site pattas, no action was taken on that front.

While some have received pattas others are languishing without pattas due to the apathy of officials.
The petitioners urged the collector to intervene and arrange for free pattas for the beneficiaries.
