Two family members arrested for abducting man over property dispute near Palladam; Accused sister absconding

In a shocking incident, a brother was abducted by his sister for the sole purpose of grabbing a property near Palladam. The brother was reportedly beaten up, robbed of his money, jewellery and property, and also forced to drink to admit him into a mental asylum.



Tiruppur: Ponnusamy who hailed from Thekkalur near Avinashi in Tiruppur district had two children, a son Sivakumar and daughter Ambika. Sivakumar is in real estate business and Ambika is married and lives with her husband Velusamy and son Gokul in Avvoli Nagar near Palladam.

Meanwhile, when Ponnusamy died a few years ago, his assets were transferred to his son Sivakumar.

Sivakumar thus owns three-and-a-half acres of land and a house in Perumanallur and Sultanpet in Coimbatore. Sivakumar who had gotten married a few years ago, divorced his wife and lived alone.

Amidst this, his sister Ambika's family had been frequently having problems with Sivakumar and was asking him to hand over the property that their father had bequeathed them.

On January 25, Sivakumar had gone to his friend Vadivel's house in Sedapalayam area but was forcibly abducted in a car with his mouth covered with a rope.

His sister Ambika, her husband and son were allegedly involved in the abduction. Following this, he was taken to the back of the house owned by Ambika in Arivoli Nagar.

It is reported that Sivakumar's leg was tied with a rope and he was hung upside down and beaten with a stick.

Unable to bear the blow, Sivakumar had reportedly told Ambika to stop and that he would listen to whatever she demanded of him.

Velusamy and Gokul, who brought Sivakumar down, allegedly took his signatures on 21 stamps of paper and snatched his bracelet, ring, chain, Rs. 1.5 lakh cash and documents related to the house in Thekkalur.

Following this, the trio reportedly took Sivakumar in two cars to Bangalore and forced him to drink alcohol enroute. They admitted Sivakumar in a mental asylum in Bangalore when he fainted.

It is reported that Sivakumar's foster mother Vasanthi and her uncle Ramamoorthy, who is the owner of Somanur Sangeetha Theatre got to heaar of the news and rescued Sivakumar from Bangalore and brought him to Palladam.



Sivakumar has lodged a complaint with the Palladam police station demanding action against his sister Ambika, her husband Velusamy and her son Gokul for abducting him and robbing him of his belongings and property.

Based on the complaint, the Palladam police conducted an investigation and arrested Gokul and Velusamy. Following this, the police lodged Gokul in the Tiruppur district jail and admitted Velusamy to a hospital due to ill health.

Sivakumar has been admitted to the Palladam Government Hospital and is undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, the police have formed a special team and are on the lookout for Ambika, who is absconding.
