Police arrest petty shop owner for selling TASMAC liquor near Sulur, video goes viral

In the meanwhile, a truck driver had posted a video on social media in which a petty shop owner was seen selling TASMAC liquor from his petty shop.



Coimbatore: The owner of a petty shop in Sulur was arrested for selling TASMAC liquor illegally. The police also seized 50 liquor bottles from his shop.

Photos and WhatsApp videos have been circulating on social media alleging the illegal sale of liquor from houses and petty shops in areas around Sulur including Pallapalayam and Pappampatti.



In the meanwhile, a truck driver had posted a video on social media in which a petty shop owner was seen selling liquor from a petty shop.

As the video went viral on social media, the police formed a special team and conducted a raid in the area.

Swaminathan, who was selling liquor from his petty shop in Pappampatti area, was interrogated.



It was revealed that he was selling liquor to people to migrant workers and truck drivers passing through the area.

Following this, the police arrested him and seized 50 bottles of liquor kept in his possession for sale.
