Uzhavar Labour Party leader Chellamuthu pledges support to AIADMK in Erode by-election

At the State General Council meeting of the Uzhavar Velaivar Katchi, the party's leader Chellamuthu announced his support to the BJP-AIADMK alliance candidate in the upcoming by-election in the Erode East constituency.

Tirupur: Uzhavar Velaivar Katchi leader Chellamuthu has stated that he will support the AIADMK candidate in the Erode by-election.

The 99th birth anniversary celebrations of Uzhavar Perunthalaivar Narayanasamy Naidu and the State General Council Meeting of the Uzhavar Velaivar Katchi were held at Uzhavalayam in Karanampettai near Palladam in Tiruppur district.

Chellamuthu, President of the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association presided over the meeting.

Thirunavukkarasu, General Secretary of the Uzhavar Velaivar Katchi, Balasubramaniyam, Treasurer, Easwaran, Secretary, Rajareeka, President of the State Women's Wing, and District In-charges participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, it was requested to continue to urge the Central and State Governments to fix the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all agricultural commodities as recommended by the M S Swaminathan Committee and to take steps to include employees working in the 100-day programme for agricultural purposes.

Several resolutions were passed unanimously, including giving the Chairman full power to take a decision on the upcoming Erode East assembly by-election and to urge the Central Government to waive off all kinds of loans taken by farmers from nationalised banks.

Speaking to reporters, Chellamuthu demanded that the compensation announced by the Tamil Nadu Government for the delta farmers affected by the rains should be increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000.

"We support the AIADMK candidate supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Erode East by-election. Panneerselvam is going to win only if he is given the 'two leaves' symbol.

Edappadi Palanisamy has the support of all the District secretaries. All the claims that the BJP is trying to unite the two are political drama.

There is nothing wrong in putting the pen statue in the party money for the artist, it is not acceptable for people to put an unwritten pen in the sea with tax money," stated Chellamuthu.
