Tirupur: On behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, a novel scheme under which Rs.1000 monthly stipend to the women pursuing higher education is being given is launched today.
The scheme known as “Pudhumai Penn” under Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Guarantee Scheme would benefit young women doing higher studies.
An amount of 1,000 per month would be deposited in the student’s bank accounts till they complete their studies.
Today, ATM cards for the same have been issuedWhile, 3,657 girls from 40 colleges in Tiruppur district were issued ATM cards under the scheme in 2022-23, In the second phase, 1,783 girls from 49 colleges were issued ATM cards under the scheme.
District collector Vineeth, Deputy Mayor Balasubramaniyam and others participated in the programme and When a student of a first-year government college complained to the district collector that there was a problem in linking the Aadhaar number to the bank account opened under the scheme, the District Collector Vineeth checked it on his mobile phone and promised to resolve the issue immediately.
