Four-day 42nd national conference on Nephrology hosted in the city, Collector, COP take part

Coimbatore: Over 500 nephrologists drawn from six States took part at the four-day national 42nd annual conference of the Indian Society of Nephrology, Southern Chapter (ISNSCCON) held under the aegis of Nephrology Association of Coimbatore here in the city.

The meeting focused on the latest treatment methodology for kidney ailments while specialists shared their experiences with the others on the modernized line of management.

District Collector Kranti Kumar Pati, who inaugurated the conference by lighting the traditional lamp said that “it's heartening that this conference is being hosted in Coimbatore and added that 'Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam', a government scheme is a boon which has been received well among the people The scheme 'Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam' aslo helps in treating kidney related ailments in the initial stage itself”.

He also lauded the doctors for their pivotal role in treating patients.

Stating that Coimbatore is not just a medical hub, the District collector said “it's also a medical tourism destination with patients flocking to the city from across different countries and States for treatment for various ailments.”

He further added that the police department is always at the beck and call of the medical fraternity as a service.

Further adding he said that “this conference, , will pave the way for making Coimbatore a 'Research Hub' and assured to create awareness among the police personnel on kidney donation to save precious lives. The COP suggested more female doctors must take part in such important conferences to update their knowledge in the latest treatment methodology for kidney diseases”.

Meanwhile, conference secretary Dr N Chezhiyan said that the conference is being held on a rotation basis by each State and this year Tamil Nadu has been chosen with Coimbatore being the host for this meet.

PG students and junior nephrologists besides research scholars submitted their reports at the conference. Also, participants took part in the 'Interventional Nephrology' direct workshop.

Further, the meeting also discussed in depth the modern technologies in kidney transplant surgeries, and new medication and dwelt at length on various factors like high blood pressure and uncontrolled blood sugar.

Early detection will help cure kidney-related ailments soon with tablets. In the event of face and limb swelling, the specialists advised dialysis and later for a kidney transplant if necessary.
