The Tamil Nadu State Transport Employees Federation, Poovulagin Nanbargal and other organizations organized an awareness mini marathon at 22 places across Tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, a marathon competition was organized in Coimbatore on behalf of the State Transport Employees Union on the theme "Protect public transport". The opening ceremony of the marathon was held at the VOC Ground area.
The marathon was organized with an emphasis on reducing road accidents, protecting the environment, reducing traffic congestion, and strengthening public transport by all.
Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan flagged off the marathon.
More than 300 people from various organisations including CITU, SFI, ITDP, among others participated in the event.
The marathon started at the VOC ground area, covered a distance of 5 km and ended at the same venue again.
