Two horrific murders in the city have sent shockwaves across the city. To put an end to this menace, the city police raided the house of criminals and arrested 33 rowdies in a swift operation.
Coimbatore: In a swift operation the city police swooped on rowdies and anti socials and arrested 33 of them from the city limits.
In view of the two subsequent murders that took place in the city on 12th and 13th the police took precautionary measures. Sathya Pandian, a rowdy in Pappanaickenpalayam area, was chased away by a gang of rowdies led by Sanjay and hacked to death.

The next morning, a rowdy named Gokul, who had come to appear in a criminal case, was hacked to death by a gang including Joshua and Gautam, near Combined Court complex in the city.

The police registered cases and found out that both these murders were revenge murders.
In order to curb the atrocities committed by the anti socials, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan ordered the arrest of the rowdy elements and gangs.
Based on this, a special police team conducted vehicle checks and raided the houses of the history sheeters.
After preparing a list of rowdies in the northern and southern parts of Coimbatore, a total of 64 houses have been searched, 11 cases registered and 33 gangsters arrested
Signatures of three rowdies have been obtained for a probation deed.
During the raid, weapons, including a knife and a sickle, and ganja packets were also seized.
In the meanwhile, City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan warned that strict action will be taken as per the law against the rowdies who indulge in antisocial acts and create law and order problems.
