At a college function in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu Police DGP Sylendra Babu advised the youth to be vigilant about increasing cyber crimes, and cyber criminals operating on the sly on the internet.
Coimbatore: Participating in the Silver jubilee celebrationsof Saraswathi Thyagaraja College in Thippampatti, near Pollachi, C. Sylendra Babu, DGP, warned the youth to be wary of cybercriminals who swindle money from unwitting youngsters.
“Due to the use of mobile phones, cyber crimes are taking place in large numbers using internet facilities. Also, online gambling has become a menace, which had claimed many lives in the past year. The youth should be wary of the cyber criminals” the DGP warned.
Speaking to reporters later, Sylendra Babu said that 10,000 police personnel have been trained in Tamil Nadu and are engaged in the final phase of training before taking charge in various police stations.
“A new batch of Police Sub-inspectors will be posted in police stations from March 1 as they have completed their training.Also, the selection is underway to appoint 444 Sub Inspectors, while thenotificationfor the recruitment of another batch of 600 Sub Inspectors will be released soon.” The DGP said.
“For the past two years, the youth have been eagerly waiting to work in Tamil Nadu Police, and the police force will look younger in the coming days as new recruitments are going on fast, “ he said.
Further adding Sylendra Babu said “About 2,300 reception officers have been appointed at various police stations to receive complaints from the public, with care and empathy and guide them through the process, which would be helpful to the general public”.
