The Coimbatore Smart Streets Exhibition will be hosted on the 18th and 19th of February, 2017 at Corporation Kalai Arangam, RS Puram.
The Corporation has identified 6 streets for building model roads. The streets were redesigned by the architects with the help of ITDP in early 2016. One Street One width, One footpath, one level, simplified intersections, park it right are the principles on which the roads will be designed.
Pedestrian comfort and safety, and usage of footpath will increase once the roads are completed as per the new plan. Vehicle entry and exit will become slower at properties entrances and exit thus avoiding any mishaps. Crossing distances will be minimized and pedestrian refuges will be provided for the pedestrians to cross the roads easily. Parallel parking spaces will be created to ease the parking problems along the road.
The members of the public can visit this venue and discuss the possible and workable ways how our city can be transformed. Entry is free for all.
