Movement of Lone Tusker roaming near Kovanur scares away local residents

The Forest department officials are in the process of chasing away a lone wild elephant which has been roaming in Kovanur area of Coimbatore district since this morning.



Coimbatore: There are about 50 wild elephants in the Palamalai forest area near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore and they frequent the buffer zone.

These wild jumbos frequently indulge in crop raiding near the foothills of the hills including in Naickenpalayam and Kovanur.



In this scenario, a lone tusker entered Kovanur early this morning and roamed in the area Upon which the people of the area informed the Periyanaickenpalayam forest department.



Following this, the forest staff reached the spot and started the operation to chase the elephant into the forest area.

A video of the roaming elephant is now going viral on social media.
