Second International Conference on Water Contamination held in Coimbatore

More than 175 research scholars, students, faculty members and industry representatives from across the country were part of the International conference.

Coimbatore: An International Conference and a Workshop on Emerging Contaminants in Water and Environment was organized at the PSG Institute of Advanced Studies in tie-up with Association of Global Groundwater Scientists (AGGS).

International experts from the USA, Australia, Germany and Argentina along with Indian Scientists, Leading academicians, industrialists and regulatory authorities like BARC, IGCAR, DRDO, IITs, state universities, and the pollution control board, India presented their findings at this conference.

More than 175 research scholars, students, faculty members and industry representatives from across the country were part of the International conference.

“The widespread problem of water pollution is jeopardizing our health and environment. The consumption of such unsafe or polluted water kills more and more people every year. Drinkable water sources are finite hence without action, mankind would face heavy demand for clean freshwater by 2050” one of the water experts said.

The main concern according to recent research is “Emerging Contaminants” (ECs), next-level water pollutants lacking standards and permissible levels.

“The conference would help innovators to share research experience and knowledge, and simultaneously boost their careers in the field of water and environmental science,” the participants said.

This event also included a Pre-conference workshop on “Techniques for Emerging contaminants quantification and Impact Assessment” where the researchers gain practical knowledge on EC quantification, monitoring, management and instrumentations for identifying ECs.
