In Tamil Nadu, the highest number of convictions have been awarded to the perpetrators of crimes against women and children. According to the Coimbatore Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan, Coimbatore tops the list in ensuring punishment of criminals.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan has warned the public to be on alert regarding cannabis chocolates which appear very similar to regular chocolates, but has 15 percent reportedly mixed with ganja and sold.
In Coimbatore district, the police have recovered stolen and lost mobile phones and handed them back to the owners, on a reular basis, in the presence of the District Superintendent of Police.
104 mobile phones worth about Rs.19 lakh were handed over to owners of the phones on Friday.
Speaking at the event, the District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan told reporters, "In Tamil Nadu, the highest number of convictions have been awarded to the perpetrators of crimes against women and children. Coimbatore is at the top of the list." He also added, "Steps are being taken intensively to prevent loss of life in the Bhavani river. Also, public have to be vigilant about the cannabis chocolates that are being sold. Everyone is smuggling ganja.
Therefore, don't say that only people from the North are involved in this. Yes, ganja is being sent from northern states by courier and we are now monitoring that too. As many as 1,550 criminals have been arrested thus far, with as many as 53 cases registered under the NDPS Act. 68 people involved in this have been arrested and about 312.5 kg of narcotics have been seized."
