TANGEDCO has issued notices to disconnect the power supply to the offices and workers' quarters of 327 brick kilns operating illegally despite court orders in Coimbatore district within 24 hours.
Coimbatore: In five revenue villages, including the Coimbatore Thadagam valley and Madukkarai, Thondamuthur, the elephant corridors were encroached upon and red sand mining brick kilns were operating by illegally mining more red soil than the government had permitted.

Several protests were launched by organisations, including the Thadagam Valley Protection Committee, to protest against this. SimpliCity had continuously exposed the illegal mining by brick kilns for over four years.

Muralitharan filed a case in the Madras High Court. As per the order issued in it, the court had ordered the sealing of brick kilns in Coimbatore that were operating without permission two years ago.
