Aggrieved Farmers stage walk out from Grievance day meeting condemning the absence of Sub-Collector

"If we have been informed in advance that the sub-collector was going to Chennai for official work, we would not have come here after forgoing farm work” the farmers said before walking out of the meeting.



Coimbatore: Aggrieved farmers staged a walkout from Farmers' redressal day meeting in Pollachi condemning against the absence of Sub- Collector in the vital meeting.

The meeting which began without the presence of sub-collector Priyanka witnessed the farmer’s wrath, who staged a walkout.

The farmers said that the meeting which has not been held for the last one-and-a-half years was convened today.

Earlier, Pollachi Sub-Collector Priyanka invited farmers and farmers' unions through newspaper ads and text messages on the mobile phone on the scheduled meeting.



More than 50 farmers and representatives of farmers' associations from areas like Pollachi, Anaimalai, Kottur, and Vettaikkaran Pudur have come to the Pollachi sub-collector's office but found only the Tahsildar and other government officials chairing the meeting.
