City Police arrest four including two 'Hindu Munnani' cadres in the Migrant workers' assault case

A group of migrant workers including Gautham, who hails from West Bengal, was walking along the Maakaliamman temple road when they were assaulted by four persons after picking up a quarrel.


Coimbatore: City Police arrested four persons, including Surya Prakash and Prakash, of ‘Hindu Munnani’, a Hindu outfit in connection with the assault on four migrant workers. The migrant workers were walking on Makaliamman Koil street near the Town hall in the city last night, when they were assaulted.

A group of migrant workers including Gautham, who hails from West Bengal, was walking along the Maakaliamman temple street when they were assaulted.

Following this, more than 100 migrant workers from North India gathered in the Town hall area in the city after midnight condemning the attack on fellow migrant workers.

A complaint was lodged at the Variety Hall police station about the said attack incident on migrant workers by the affected.

Police are also on the lookout for the miscreants who attacked the workers and fled the scene.

Commissioner Balakrishnan ordered the arrest of those who attacked the migrant workers, following which Pragatheesh and Velmurugan, who are students in a private college, Murugan alias Surya Prakash, and Prakash were arrested and cases filed under sections 294B, 323, 506 of the IPC.

Further investigations are on.
