14th Tribal Youth Exchange Program organized at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore

Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of Home Affairs in association with the Government of Tamil Nadu and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Tamil Nadu in collaboration with the NSS unit of Bharathiar University organized this 1 week's program.


Coimbatore: The 14th Tribal Youth Exchange Program was organized in Coimbatore on Wednesday at Bharathiar University. The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of Home Affairs in association with the Government of Tamil Nadu and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Tamil Nadu in collaboration with the NSS unit of Bharathiar University organized this 1 week's program.



The inaugural ceremony of this flagship program of the Government of India was presided over by T. Mano Thangaraj, Minister for Information Technology & Digital Services, Govt. of Tamil Nadu in the presence of Kranthi Kumar Pati, I.A.S., District Collector, Coimbatore, V.Balakrishnan, I.P.S., Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City and M.N.Nataraj, Regional Director, NYKS - Southern States, Govt of India, Bengaluru.



The brochure of the 1-week program and the kit were distributed to the tribal youth teams of various states during the inaugural ceremony.

The key emphasis was the participation of Tribal Youth from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Bihar. The program aims to empower the tribal youth with the concept of Diversity and inclusivity.

Meanwhile, a glimpse of various traditional tribal cultures was presented to the audience through multiple art performances.



As many as 200 participants from across the country were present at the event.



While addressing the audience, the Minister stated that Tamil Nadu is known for its hospitality and the native scriptures teach the same. "Assume this is your home and learn the language, culture, tradition, and political scenarios of this state. Every community pertains to different particles where each of them are known by their best practices which must be shared and discussed."



He noted that under the leadership of CM M.K Stalin, Tamil Nadu is keen to avoid social exclusion and promote an Inclusive approach by all means. He advised the students to focus on three aspects as Attitude, Talents/ Skills and Knowledge for a successive outcome.

"Digital literacy is necessary, innovation and entrepreneurship should be inculcated within every individual for self-development and to create more opportunities," he added.



Later the District Collector emphasized that peace is maintained in the district as there is no violence against any people. He said, "There are many anti-socials who impart an individual ideology within the people to provoke chaos and damage the harmony and that the youth must not become a bait to those traps."



Following this, the District Commissioner of Police prompted them to make advantage of such programs to improvise the Standard of living. "Alienation is the biggest problem to be addressed which is met by these programs. The feeling of inclusiveness is important for the progress of the nation. I suggest you people join uniform services which provide more opportunities. Most significantly it gives the feeling of being part of the country."
