Burglary attempt at a jewellery shop foiled near Pooluvapatti

Coimbatore: A burglary attempt made at a jewellery shop was foiled near Pooluvapatti due to timely intervention of police patrol team.

The police intercepted a gang which was trying to break into a jewellery shop and apprehended a member of the gang.

Marimuthu, a native of Thoothukudi district, was caught by the police while others managed to escape the scene.

According to police, Palpandi (47), a resident of Chinnathambi Gounder Street in Pooluvapatti, who runs pesticide shop "Evergreen Agri Clinic Shop" on Pooluvapatti Bazaar, found his shop burgled on his way to the hospital around midnight.

At about 2 am, he developed some illness and was rushing to the hospital with his friend when he found his shop’s door ajar. He also found out that Rs 2,000 kept in the shop was burgled.

When he looked around he saw the gang members trying to make a hole to enter a private jewellery shop nearby.

He alerted both the jewellery shop owner and the Alandurai police, who were patrolling the area.

The gang members, who saw the police arriving at the spot, threw away the tools, and fled the scene.

However one of the gang members was apprehended and police are on the lookout for the foursome who escaped.
