The Nilgiris: The four-month-old elephant, which was rescued from a well in Dharmapuri, is being looked after by Oscar- winning couple Bomman and Bellie at the Mudumalai Theppakadu Elephant Camp.
A video of the couple playing with the rescued baby elephant has gone viral on social media.
The baby elephant, which got separated from a herd of elephants after it fell into a 40-feet-deep well, was rescued in an operation by TN Forest staff.
The forest department failed in its bid to reunite the calf with its mother elephant.
As the attempt failed, the Forest department decided to take the baby elephant to Mudumalai elephant camp in the Nilgiris district on March 17.
In the meanwhile, the government has ordered the maintenance of the baby elephant by Bomman and Bellie, who starred in the Oscar winnng documentary "The Elephant Whispers".
Additional Chief secretary for Environment and Forests Supriya Sahu shared a video of the baby elephant playing with the Oscar-winning couple on Twitter, which attracted the social media users.
