Mumbai-based businessman duped off up to Rs 20 lakh by Hazel James, a teacher by hiding her marriage. A case has been registered against the Coimbatore-based school teacher under sections 420, 406 and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code( IPC).
Coimbatore: Police have registered a case under three sections against a teacher of a private school in Coimbatore for allegedly duping a Mumbai businessman by concealing her marriage.
Rajesh (44) hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He runs a travel company at Chembur railway station. In 2020, she became friends with a woman named Lorraine through her relative.
Later, through Lorraine, he became acquainted with his sister Hazel James, a resident of Sathya Sai Nagar in Podanur, Coimbatore.
Videos on social media, including Instagram, Facebook book and others, she dressed up as trendy and modern. Rajesh liked the fact that Hazel James had posted the photos.
The two reportedly talked frequently on the phone. In the beginning, Hazel James used to get along with Rajesh, claiming that she was an unmarried woman. A few days later, she said she was married and her husband had died.
Rajesh, however, continued to be associated with Hazel James. One day, Hazel James said that it was true that she was married and that her husband had not died and that the divorce case was pending in the Coimbatore court.
Rajesh was mesmerised by Hazel James' speech and said it didn't matter. He also said that she has two daughters. He said she had a lot of difficulties as she was living with her father.
Believing this, Rajesh gave a loan of Rs 90,000. Hazel James has said that she is doing her own business and asked her to help her. Rajesh bought Rs 20 lakh worth of cash, cosmetics, an expensive cell phone and a Skoda car.
Hazel James had bought the goods by asking them to send them in her father's name. Hazel James registered the Skoda car in the name of her elder brother Vivin Cristo. While Rajesh relied heavily on Hazel James, it was revealed that Hazel James had an affair with another army man Justin.
Rajesh Nadar also came to know that Hazel James was in a similar relationship with many men. Shocked by this, Rajesh asked Hazel James about this. "It's not good to interfere in my personal life and I shouldn't interfere in your personal life," she said.
This led to a difference of opinion between the two. Hazel James continued to avoid talking to businessman Rajesh. Rajesh then contacted her and asked her to return his money. Then Hazel James said that the money could not be returned. She threatened to kill her two children and commit suicide if Rajesh asked for the money back.
Scared, Rajesh again asked for his money a few days later. Hazel James instead of giving back his ₹20 lakh rupees she threatened that there is someone to kill Rajesh if she gives him Rs 2 lakh.
Fearing this, Rajesh came to Coimbatore and lodged a complaint with city police commissioner Balakrishnan. On the basis of the complaint, the Podanur police led by South Assistant Commissioner Sathish Kumar conducted an inquiry. During the investigation, various information was obtained about Hazel James, who had cheated Mumbai businessman Rajesh.
Hazel’s father, James, is retired from the army. Her mother works as a teacher in a reputed school in Coimbatore. Hazel James fell in love with the son of a Coimbatore-based police officer while she was studying in college. Following this, both of them got married in love.
They had two children after marriage. Hazel James's family had asked the police officer's son to convert to Christianity, following which the two had differences of opinion and were living separately. Their divorce case is also going on in the Coimbatore court.
Hazel James worked as a teacher in various private schools in Coimbatore and was sacked from there due to her actions. Last year, her husband, the son of a police officer went to Hazel James's house in Podanur to see his child.
A case has already been registered at Podanur police station in Coimbatore where the police officer's son was brutally assaulted and his mobile phone and gold ornaments were snatched from him.
In this case, Hazel James cheated Rs 20 lakh by talking to a Mumbai businessman and getting various things as gifts from Rajesh, including a car.
Investigations have also revealed that she was in a relationship with Justin, an army man from Coimbatore, and had planned to marry him. Investigations have also revealed that Hazel James had planned to kill her first husband.
The Podanur police have registered a case under sections 420, 406 and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against school teacher Hazel James for allegedly cheating Mumbai businessman Rajesh and threatening to kill him.
