Government Botanical Garden workers sit- in strike enters fifth day, petition submitted to 'Devadaru' tree

The workers at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty have been on a continuous strike since March 23, pressing for their charter of demands, including pay parity.

The workers at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty have been on a continuous strike since March 23 pressing for their charter of demands, including equal pay for equal work.



As the protest continues for the fifth day, as their demands have not been fulfilled so far, despite several rounds of protests.



The employees have been protesting for the fifth day, claiming that neither the Tamil Nadu government, the district administration nor the officials of the horticulture department have responded to the strike.



Meanwhile, the park staff took out a procession and petitioned to you an old Devadaru tree, a century-old tree in the garden, and petitioned with tears in their eyes and staged a protest in a novel way.

The botanical garden employees have said that they will continue their protest till their demands are met.
