DoT launches new website to find lost smartphones

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a new website called CEIR to help locate lost smartphones, block them and unblock recovered smartphones.

New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a new website called CEIR to help trace lost smartphones.

In a world where almost all people possess a smartphone, be it for communication, work or social media usage, losing a smartphone seems to have a crippling effect on any individual. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has developed a dedicated website called the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) to help individuals find their lost or stolen smartphones.

If an individual complains with the IMEI number of his lost or stolen smartphone on the website page, one can block the smartphone usage. It is also possible to unblock the smartphone that has been recovered.

If any person wishes to buy a used smartphone, the website can also be used to find out more details about that particular smartphone.
