Tirupur:AIADMK workers led by former MLA Gunasekaran garlanded the statue of MGR on Kumaran Road in Tirupur celebrating the election of Edapadi K Palanisamy as the party’s General secretary.
The cadres celebrated by bursting crackers and distributing sweets to the public.
The AIADMK cadres raised slogans of "vaazhga, varungala Tamilnadu muthalamaichar Edappadi K Palaniswami".
Following the Madras High Court's verdict that the resolutions passed at the AIADMK general council meeting held on July 11 would be legally valid, the AIADMK has announced theelection of Edappadi K Palaniswamias the party’sGeneral secretary.
Earlier, a petition was filed in the Madras High Court on behalf of OPS faction seeking to declare the resolutions at the AIADMK general council meeting as void. But, the Madras High Court on Tuesday ruled that the resolutions passed at the general body meeting are valid.
Following which, the results ofAIADMK general secretary's election, whichwas kept in abeyance, was announced on Tuesday.
