Coimbatore: The city airport, which has infrastructure facilities to handle 250 tonnes of cargo at a time is shipping six tonnes of mangoes every week to Sharjah.

According to an Airport official “Various food items, engineering products, vegetables, fruits and chips, are booked and shipped. While Sharjah is operated five days a week, three tonnes of cargo is transported each time. Mangoes are exported in large quantities during the summer season. Now that the season has begun, mangoes from Kerala and Pollachi are being shipped to Sharjah in large quantitiesâ€.
