Coimbatore: A state-of-the-art ‘Gender guidance clinic’, a multi-speciality clinic for the benefit of transgenders was inaugurated at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital ( CMCH) premises.
Dr Nirmala, Dean, CMCH inaugurated the clinic for the welfare of the third-gender population.
Dr BP Ramanan, Head Plastic Surgeon, said, "This is an exclusive initiative in favour of the third gender. This multi-speciality clinic will offer all treatments including psychiatric assistance, plastic surgery and gender switch guidance for transgendersâ€.

More than 50 transgender people along with their association leaders took part in the inaugural ceremony held at CMCH.
While talking to Simplicity, Dr Nirmala said, "This is a remarkable initiative to support and extend healthcare to the third-gender community. This clinic has been established under the TN Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme in association with the National Health Mission (NHM) free of cost."
