In a shocking incident, miscreants broke open the lock of a co-operative central bank official's house in Dharapuram and looted goods worth Rs 5 lakh, including gold and silver.

When they went inside, they found that nine sovereigns of jewellery, diamond earrings, jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh and rs 3 lakh in cash kept in the cupboard had been looted by the miscreants.

Chellamuthu lodged a complaint with the Dharapuram police station. The Dharapuram police have registered a case and are investigating.
