Tirupur: A woman fell down and sustained injuries while running away in fear of an elephant near Udumalpet.

Udumalai and Amaravathi forest ranges are located in the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve near Udumalpet in Tirupur district. A large number of tribal people live in the settlements of Kodandur, Aattumalai, Tharanaru, Thalinji, Thalinjivayal, Manjampatti, Eesalthittu, Kuzhipatti, Kurumalai, Mel Gurumalai, Mavadappu, Kattupatti and Karumutti. They are mainly engaged in agriculture.

For this, one has to come to the foothills to buy inputs and meet the essential needs. Sometimes they are using a single-lane path created by animals as there is no path in the forest area. Chinnaka (40), a resident of Eesalthid, came to the foothills of the hill to buy essential commodities in the afternoon.

She then bought the goods and was on his way to the house. Chinnaka, who was scared of the elephant hiding in the bushes when he went to Ithipazhi, accidentally fell down when he tried to run away. She suffered minor injuries.

After that, the elephant left. Following this, the tribals who accompanied him rescued him and took him to Jallipatti Government Hospital for treatment.

She was treated there. The Udumalai forest department was informed about this.

On the orders of Range Forest Officer Sivakumar, forest officials, including forest officer Thangaprakash, rushed to the spot and interrogated Chinnaka. The forest department said they would make arrangements if he needed advanced treatment.
