In order to not hurt wildlife in Udumalai forest ranges, border villages and farmlands, Assistant Conservator of Forests Ganeshram along with the forest team inspected whether the electric fences were erected illegally.
Tirupur: The Assistant Conservator of Forests inspected the forest areas near Udumalpet in Tirupur district to find out if illegal electric fencing has been erected in the forest areas.
Whether the electricity connections in the forest boundary areas, border villages and farmlands in Tirupur forest division have been set up in a low level to harm wildlife. Forest officials along with electricity board employees are constantly checking whether the solar fences are being supplied with electricity illegally.
Following the death of wild elephants due to electrocution in dharmapuri and coimbatore forest ranges, raids have been intensified in Tirupur forest division.
Based on this, Assistant Conservator of Forests and Assistant Director GaneshRam, Udumalaipettai Forest Ranger Sivakumar and a team inspected the elephant-dominated areas of Jallipatti and Kongurarkuttai areas in Udumalpet forest range.
At that time, an audit was conducted to see if the electricity connections were being laid low and whether the solar fences were being diverted stealthily. They also highlighted the damage caused to wildlife especially elephants due to low-lying power connections to the people and urged them to use solar fences properly as per the law.
