324 tonnes of exports handled from Coimbatore airport in 3 months

According to officials, 94 tonnes of goods were exported from Coimbatore airport in January, 83 tonnes in February and 117 tonnes in March to foreign countries in three months.


Coimbatore: The integrated cargo complex at the Coimbatore International Airport complex handles cargo traffic to various cities and foreign countries at home. In the domestic transport sector, textiles, engineering products, jewellery including gold and silver are handled in large numbers.

Vegetables, fruits, engineering products are handled in the foreign transport sector. In March alone, 117 tonnes of goods were exported to foreign countries.

Airport officials said, "Vegetables and fruits are usually handled the most in the foreign freight traffic segment. In the last three months, vegetables, fruits as well as engineering-related products have been handled in large numbers.

In January, 94 tonnes of goods were exported. While it dropped slightly to 83 tonnes in February, 117 tonnes of cargo was exported abroad in March. In the three months from January to March alone, a total of 324 tonnes of goods, both exports and imports, have been handled.

We hope that the quantity of goods being handled abroad will increase in the coming months as well."
