Flower Vendors Rejoice: Mahaveer Jayanthi, Paguni Uthiram and Bannari Amman Temple Carnival Boosts Sales in the Poo Market Area, Coimbatore

Flower vendors in the Poo Market area have been rejoicing as the Mahaveer Jayanthi, Paguni Uthiram and Bannari Amman Temple carnival celebrations have provided them with a much-needed boost in sales. With an increase in demand for fresh flowers, these vendors have been able to make a steady income from the sale of their seasonal blooms.


Coimbatore: The price increase of flowers has been welcomed by flower vendors all over the city because of the special occasions of Mahaveer Jayanthi, Paguni Uthiram, and Bannari Amman Temple Carnival. Sales atthe flower markets in the Poo Market region have increased somewhat asa result.



Mulberry and jasmine flowers are delivered from the Sathyamangalam region to a floral market operating in the RS Puram neighbourhood of Coimbatore. Roses and other flowers are delivered from the Hosur, Bengaluru, and Ooty regions. Prices are given in both bulk and retail forms.



Sales of important kinds of blossoms used for temple celebrations, such as jasmine, rose, and other varieties, increased. In this regard, the cost of jasmine varied between Rs. 600 at the lowest end and Rs. 1000 at the highest. Arabian Jasmine costs Rs. 1000 per kilogram, Chrysanthemum Rs. 200, Button Rose Rs. 180, Oleander Rs.180, Champak Rs. 160, Davana Plant Rs. 30 and Firecracker Flower Rs.600.

Due to their needs, the people eagerly bought the flowers despite the price increase. Since summer has arrived, fewer flowers are being produced at reduced rates. The price increase in this instance has given flower sellers more reason for optimism.
