Farmers in the Coimbatore district's Kinathukadavu region have urged the forest department to take action to prevent wild boars from invading fields at night and causing crop damage.
Coimbatore: At a farm called Kanagaraj in Kodangipalayam, close to Kinathukadavu in the Coimbatore region, Nendram had been growing banana saplings for about six months. In this case, wild boars that wandered into the banana farm during the night bit and damaged these young banana trees.
Wild boars damaging crops and invading agricultural territory have been the subject of a petition submitted to the Pollachi sub-collector's office.
Farmers claim that there are numerous wild boars on the banks of Kothavadi tank in the Kinathukadavu region.
Numerous wild boars have been breaking into the yard at night and destroying different vegetable crops, including the tapioca and banana.
The forest service needs to keep an eye on this and capture the feral boars. If not, the forest department should approve the construction of electric fences to keep wild boars out of the agricultural lands.
500 banana seedlings have currently been harmed in Kodangipalayam alone. They suggested that the government take action to compensate the impacted farmer.
