Tragic End: Labourer killed in Coimbatre by wild elephant attack

Joseph Dhanapal, a native of Maduvarayapuram in Coimbatore's Poondi Forest Range, was found dead following an attack by a wild elephant. The incident is being looked into by the forest department and Alandarai police.


Coimbatore : In Coimbatore, officers from the forest department were patrolling the Poondi forest area, which is part of the Poluvampatti forest range.

In a canal close to the water shed, a body of an unidentified person was discovered.

After afterwards, an examination showed that he had passed away due to an elephant assault.

The Alandarai police were told about this by the forest department. As soon as they arrived, the police retrieved the body and transported it to the government hospital in Coimbatore for an autopsy.

Joseph Dhanapal (39), a native of Madhwarayapuram, has been identified as the dead.

The forest department believes the man perished after being assaulted by a wild elephant while passing by last night.

Furthermore, because the carcass was discovered in a deep forest, the forest department is keeping a tight eye on the wild elephant's movements.
