Coimbatore court acid attack victim ordered to be paid solatium of Rs 3 lakh compensation

Kavitha, who was seriously injured when her husband threw acid on her on March 23 in the Coimbatore court premises, is undergoing treatment. The Coimbatore District Legal Services Authority has directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to her.


Coimbatore: A judge in Coimbatore has ordered compensation to a woman who was seriously injured in an acid attack in the Coimbatore court premises.

Kavitha was seriously injured on March 23 when her husband threw acid at her when she was on her way to the court premises in Coimbatore. She was rescued by neighbours and sent to Coimbatore Government hospital for treatment. She is undergoing treatment there.

A case has been registered in this regard at Coimbatore Race Course Road police station. Coimbatore District Legal Services Authority Judge Siva, who heard the case, directed the government to pay Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victim as an interim compensation as per the Tamil Nadu Victims' Compensation Scheme.
