DMK panchayat president attacked near Kinathukadavu - public siege police station

People of Kinathukadavu gheraoed the police station and staged a protest demanding the arrest of the persons who attacked panchayat president Sathish Kumar who tried to stop the smuggling of gravel soil.


Coimbatore: Villagers gheraoed the Kinathukadavu police station and staged a protest demanding the arrest of the persons who attacked the DMK panchayat president in Kinathukadavu.

Satheesh Kumar, the president of the grama panchayat, received a tip-off that gravel sand was being transported in a lorry without permission last night in the area under No. 10 Muthur panchayat of Kinathukadavu panchayat union.

Following this, Satheesh Kumar reached the spot and stopped the truck. There was an argument between the two sides. Following this, a group of people present allegedly attacked panchayat president Satish Kumar.

The injured panchayat president has been admitted to Pollachi government hospital and is undergoing treatment.



In this situation, the villagers of No. 10 Muthur area of Muthur area suddenly gheraoed the Kinathukadavu police station and staged a protest demanding the arrest of the persons who attacked the panchayat president.



Later, the villagers called off the protest after holding talks with the villagers who were surrounded by the police and assuring them that legal action would be taken against those who attacked the panchayat president.

Later, a case was registered against Kalimuthu, Mayil Manickam, Kailasam, Easwaran and Santhalingam of Singaiyanpudur in Kinathukadavu for assaulting the panchayat president.

The police arrested three persons – Kalimuthu, Mayil Manickam and Kailasam. The police are also on the lookout for Easwaran and Shanthalingam, who are absconding.
