For the past two days, forest fires have raged in the Western Ghats forest area of Naadegaondanpudur in Alandurai in Coimbatore. Additional teams from the Nilgiris and Sirumugai forest areas have been sent to extinguish the fire.
Coimbatore : For the past two days, a forest fire has been raging in the Western Ghats forest area of Alandurai Nadegoundanpudur in Coimbatore's Madukkarai forest range.
A 40-member forest department staff has been divided into four squads to douse a 150-hectare fire. Previously, bamboo-rich areas had been found and the fire was extinguished.
While the fire has been extinguished in an area of roughly 40 hectares, an additional team of forest department officials from the Sirumugai and Nilgiris forest ranges were called in to assist in extinguishing the fire.
According to forest department authorities, the fire will be completely doused and brought under control by today evening because dousing of fire is being done in accordance with the direction of the wind.
