Iftar party for communal harmony in Coimbatore - All religious leaders participate

A large number of Muslims participated in an Iftar party organised jointly by Hindus and Christians to promote communal harmony in Coimbatore. All religious leaders participated in the event organized on behalf of The Tamil Nadu Multi-Religious Harmony Movement.



Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Multi-Religious Harmony Movement is organizing a series of programmes to promote communal harmony in Coimbatore.

Following the commencement of the Muslim holy month of Ramzan, the opening ceremony of the Iftar fast, which was attended by people of all religions, was held under the leadership of Muhammed Rafeeq, president of the Tamil Nadu Multi-Religious Harmony Movement, last night.



M.M. Ramasamy, the coordinator of the movement, presided over the function. At the Iftar party held at Hash Six hotel hall in Saibaba Colony area in Coimbatore, Perur Aadinam Thavathiru Marudasala Adigalar, Sravai Aadinam Kumaragurupara Swamigal, Bishop Of CSI Christunathar Temple David Barnabas,

All Jamaat Federation Secretary Mohammed Ali, Chief Imam Abdul Rahim Imdadi, Coimbatore Diocese Chief Priest George Dhanasekar, Coimbatore Diocese Chief Priest George Dhanasekar and others participated in the function. Secretary Ravi, 45th Councillor Sudha Ravi, and police officers were present.



Earlier, all religious leaders delivered special speeches on the occasion. This was followed by the opening ceremony of the fast by distributing food items including dates, fasting porridge, fruits and other food items to all the participants.



Speaking to reporters, Coordinator Mohammed Rafi said that festivals like Pongal, Deepavali and Christmas are being celebrated in Coimbatore to promote communal harmony.
